System Enhancement for Health Action in Transition (SEHAT)
Ghazni province is located in the central region of Afghanistan and is surrounded by Paktia and Logar provinces in the northeast, Paktika in the southeast, Zabul in the southwest, Daikundi and Bamyan in the northwest, and Wardak in the north.
Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS): BDN has been implementing EPHS in Ghazni Provincial Hospital (GPH) since July 2003 under different contracts with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) such as Rural Expansion of Afghanistan’s Community-Based Healthcare (REACH), Performance-based Partnership Grant (PPG) and Partnership Contract for Health (PCH). In July 2015, after a competing bidding process, MoPH awarded BDN a new contract under System Enhancement for Health Action in Transition (SEHAT) project to deliver the EPHS in Ghazni province up to June 2018.
The EPHS is provided to 154,618 inhabitants of the province by the GPH which has 130 beds with the functional outpatient and in-patient departments. Twenty four-hour round the clock emergency services are provided by GPH to cover urgent and complicated cases that are referred from all parts of Ghazni and neighboring provinces. The GPH is currently staffed with 162 employees including four management staffs, 30 doctors, 48 nurses and midwives, 18 technicians and 62 administrative and support staffs.
